Felipe Cohen’s practice develops from the tension between traditional and contemporary ways of presenting the art object, as well as from the study and revisiting of recurring questions in art history in order to reinterpret and update their meanings in the present. This tension emerges through the articulation of refined materials with ordinary everyday objects, creating both paradoxical forms that are compelled to coexist and symbolic reinterpretations of classical signs and genres through a dialectical process.

He received the illy SustainArt Award at ARCO, Madrid, Spain (2016); the Atos Visuais – Funarte Award, Brasília, Brazil (2007); and the Fiat Mostra Brasil Award, São Paulo, Brazil (2006).

His works are held in the collections of the Pinacoteca de São Paulo, Brazil; MAM São Paulo, Brazil; and the Museu de Arte do Rio – MAR, Brazil.
