About

1990, Tbilisi, Georgia
Lives and works in Paris, France

Intuition, atmosphere, and light sensitivity guide Nino Kapanadze’s approach to painting. Her works preserve tacit tensions through environments, figures, and scenes that unfold in fragments, evoking uneasy concepts or remembrance. The diaphanous quality of her compositions, however, withholds contradictions from vast visual traditions, forms of perception, and between the self and the outside world.

Kapanadze explores time and nature by intensifying painterly sensations and through a visual language that embraces ambiguity, forming enigmas. Her canvases become sites of dialogue, where translucent layers of color conjure suspended spaces and experiences both intimate and elusive.

Nino Kapanadze holds an MFA from the Beaux-Arts de Paris, France, a master’s degree from Sciences Po Paris, and a Master of Architecture from the Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Arts, Georgia. She has held solo shows at Villa Atrata Palais-Royal, Paris, France; Chapelle Saint Croix, Villa Atrata, Angles-sur-l’Anglin, France; and Fondazione Bonollo Arte Contemporanea, Thiene, Italy (2025). Recent group shows include presentations at David Zwirner, Paris, France; La Gaya Scienza, Nice, France (2025); Perrotin, Paris, France; and Le Quai contemporary art space, Monte Carlo, Monaco (2023). Her works are part of collections such as the Lafayette Anticipations Foundation, France; Noewe Foundation, Lithuania; Sigg Art Foundation, France; and Fondazione Bonollo, Italy.
