Rayana Rayo’s work springs from deeply personal procedures. Her paintings, which evoke landscapes or botanical organisms, constitute a biome of their own, which responds to sensitive experiences and subjective elaborations. Rayo uses fundamental forms and a subdued color palette to create fabulations as paintings, from which emerge figures that allude to mountains, islands, and aquatic and abyssal landscapes, as well as plants, animals, and other beings that stand out from the background and sparkle on the surface of the canvas.

Oneiric in nature, her representations do not seek immediate correspondence with the outside world. Although this is suggested in their appearance, for the artist, painting is an instrument for materializing memories, desires, and everyday experiences, while simultaneously establishing a dialogue with Pernambuco’s artistic tradition.

Rayana Rayo’s path has been closely linked to the arts since she was a child, thanks to living with her father, a prominent artist in Pernambuco’s scene. She began to dedicate herself to painting in 2015. Since then, she has had solo exhibitions at Almeida & Dale, São Paulo, Brazil (2026); Galeria Travessía Cuatro, Guadalajara, Mexico (2025); Galeria Marco Zero, Recife (2025); Casa Criatura, Olinda (2019); and Casa Vândala, Fortaleza (2018). In addition to participation in group exhibitions such as Naturaleza Arquitecta, Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires (2026); The Earth, the Fire, the Water and the Winds: For a Museum of Errantry with Édouard Glissant, Instituto Tomie Ohtake, São Paulo (2025) —occasion on which she attended an artistic residency promoted by the Édouard Glissant Art Fund in Martinique—; Entre colapsos e encantamentos, Galeria ReOcupa, São Paulo (2025); Surge et veni, Millan, São Paulo (2024); Invenção dos reinos, Oficina Francisco Brennand, Recife (2023); Solar nascente, Solar dos Abacaxis, Rio de Janeiro (2022), among others. Her work is  part of the permanent collection of the Pinacoteca de São Paulo and REC Cultural in Recife.
