Acervo Vivo [Living Collection] is a program that explores Almeida & Dale’s collection through exhibitions organized by both guest and in-house curators and researchers.
The exhibitions are based on a careful and non-hierarchical selection of works that propose dialogues between contemporary artists and those from different generations. They transcend chronological boundaries, create unexpected connections, reveal new layers of meaning, and foster encounters between distinct times and narratives.
With the work of Luiz Sacilotto as its central axis, this edition proposes a perspective on geometric abstraction that goes beyond conventional notions of rationality and detachment from the sensory world. By considering this artistic manifestation as a radical form of representing reality, the potential of these works is amplified through a comprehensive perspective that is not confined to predefined interpretations. In addition to Sacilotto, the exhibition includes works by Abraham Palatnik, Amilcar de Castro, Ana Holck, Ana Maria Tavares, Antonio Henrique Amaral, Emanoel Araújo, Felipe Cohen, Franz Weissmann, Gabriel Acevedo Velarde, Geraldo de Barros, Hércules Barsotti, Hermelindo Fiaminghi, Iole de Freitas, Jandyra Waters, Joaquim Tenreiro, Luiz Sacilotto, Luiz Zerbini, Lydia Okumura, Lygia Clark, Lygia Pape, Mari Yoshimoto, Max Bill, Olafur Eliasson, Richard Serra, Saint Clair Cemin, Victor Vasarely, and Waltercio Caldas.
By activating the collection as a field of ongoing investigation, Acervo Vivo reaffirms the gallery’s commitment to valuing artistic creation in its multiple temporalities, contributing to its preservation, dissemination, and continual reinterpretation.
