On August 30, Ana Elisa Egreja opens Horizonte dourado (Golden Horizon) at Almeida & Dale. The exhibition presents the artist’s recent work and is curated by Lilia Schwarcz.

A new series of paintings featuring Duralex plates arranged with placemats is one of the exhibition’s highlights. In these works, Egreja turns her gaze to these emblematic household items—common across Brazilian homes—expanding her ongoing exploration of domestic objects and their historical and emotional resonances through virtuosic representations of food and the visual effects of glass.

The exhibition also includes a set of paintings with gold leaf, creating new dialogues between the artist’s work and pictorial representation in art history, more specifically that of the medieval period. They are still lifes and large interior portraits in which motifs from the artistic canon and Brazilian popular culture are combined.
