Lidia Lisbôa, Marlene Almeida, Maxwell Alexandre, Rebeca Carapiá, and Heitor dos Prazeres are among the artists featured in the 36th Bienal de São Paulo, opening in September.

Titled Not All Travellers Walk Roads – Of Humanity as Practice, the Bienal is curated by Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, with co-curators Alya Sebti, Anna Roberta Goetz, and Thiago de Paula Souza, and Keyna Eleison as co-curator at large.

The Bienal is inspired by the poem Da calma e do silêncio [Of Calm and Silence] by poet Conceição Evaristo, and is founded on active listening to humanity as a practice of constant displacement, encounter, and negotiation. It will feature newly commissioned projects by Lidia, Maxwell, Marlene, and Rebeca, developed in response to the curators invitation.
