Daiara Tukano, Gustavo Caboco, No Martins, and Sidney Amaral are featured in the 4th Frestas—Trienal de Artes, opening to the public from February 28 at Sesc Sorocaba. Entitled do caminho um rezo (on the path a prayer), the exhibition is collectively curated by Khadyg Fares, Luciara Ribeiro, and Naine Terena and focuses on the symbolic and cultural power of the territory where it takes place.

Guided by the idea of “on the path is a prayer,” from teacher Tadeu Kaingang; the notion of “Thaki,” from Indigenous Andean cosmology; and the “A Confluências afropindorâmicas” (Afropindoramic confluences) articulated by Antônio Bispo dos Santos, the show proposes an understanding of paths as ritualistic actions. Attentive to local community initiatives and education, the curatorship draws on traditional knowledge and practices from the Sorocaba region, occupying spaces beyond Sesc as well.
