Though they belong to different generations and distinct moments in Brazilian art history, the two artists share the galleries of the Teatro Nelson Rodrigues with paintings, sculptures, and installations. The show highlights Shintani’s installation Menas and her polyptych Cru e Cozido — works that push past the conventional boundaries of painting and sculpture, turning instead toward how each piece comes into being, circulates, and is shared with its audience. As the curators Ana Roman and Catalina Bergues put it, this is what draws the two bodies of work together: “an understanding of art as something that remains forever unfinished, depending on the world to come alive”.
