Alice Shintani presents the installations Echo as part of the Visiting Artist Program at Pollock Gallery in Dallas.
Curated by Frederico Câmara, the show occupies the gallery space with two immersive propositions: a large-scale wall painting derived from the series Mata and the site-specific Menas, both originally presented by Shintani at the 34th São Paulo Biennial—Though It’s Dark, Still I Sing (2020–2022).
From compositions that connect fantastic elements of fauna and flora through the contrast between black, red, and green to cardboard boxes of Arab, Latin American, and Asian foods combined with carefully folded and stitched paper, the artist draws on a social and political perspective on the present.
