Starting on November 8, Almeida & Dale presents Echoes and Mirages, curated by Carlos Quijon Jr. and Yudi Rafael.
Approaches between Brazilian and Southeast Asian contexts are proposed by the curators through an understanding of art as an apparatus capable of offering expanded insights into ecology in the face of an interconnected world.
Works by Alice Shintani, Bagus Pandega, Emilia Estrada, Ho Tzu Nyen, Jaider Esbell, and Bernaldina José Pedro, Lang Jingshan, Lesley-Anne Cao, Maria Thereza Alves, Marina Woisky, Nguyễn Trinh Thi, Pratchaya Phinthong, and Priyageetha Dia are in dialogue at Rua Caconde 152.
This is the third exhibition in the Transoceanic Perspectives program, conceived and coordinated by curator Yudi Rafael and presented by Almeida & Dale since 2023. The project explores connections between artistic practices and cultural histories across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
