On September 27, starting at 11am, Almeida & Dale will host the launch of the book Raymundo Colares: Pista Livre, published on the occasion of the exhibition of the same title on view at the gallery through October 25.

Organized by curator Ligia Canongia, the volume brings together texts by her and critic Felipe Scovino, as well as excerpts from Colares’s diary and a chronology of the artist.

Between the 1960s and 1980s, Raymundo Colares created a visual repertoire made up of references to Constructivism, Pop Art, and urban culture, positioning himself in the clash between these trends. The bus, a frequent icon on his canvases, appears as an indicative element of this fusion, evoking the notion of movement and dynamism of large cities, expressed through multidirectional planes that tend to collide.
