Under the Shadow of the Dust of the Stars, Amilcar de Castro’s first solo exhibition at Almeida & Dale, opens on November 8.
Guided by the cosmic nature of iron, an elemental material in the artist’s poetics, the exhibition curated by Cristiano Raimondi highlights the formation of his creative universe from a fabular perspective.
With the aim of “to elicit affinities between sculpture, painting, and the spectator,” the exhibition features works in various media and scales, created between 1970 and 1990.
New relationships between art theory, cinema, philosophy, and Amilcar’s work make up Raimondi’s proposed reading, attesting to the relevance of one of the pillars of contemporary Brazilian sculpture.
