Festa no Céu – Miri’kua Umuhse’pu Bahsa’ra, an installation by Daiara Tukano, takes over Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil Belo Horizonte’s atrium.
Among macaws and japó birds suspended at different heights and positions, the mobile created especially for the site brings together 104 acrylic birds, forming a flock marked by the vibrant colors of Hori, vision of the transformation of the Universe and of thought. Linked to light and color beyond material form, Hori is a key concept in in Daiara Tukano’s artistic thought and practice.
Amö Numiã—the first women, featured in her first solo show—show up again in this new installation. “With the life that breathed in their wombs, these women creators bore two of the most important beings in Tukano ancestrality, giving rise to peoples, tongues, visions, and the organization of society,” the artist wrote in 2023.
