Drawing on references to Minas Gerais’ Baroque tradition, popular religiosity, and the imagery that has developed around the city, David Almeida, in his solo exhibition Devagar com o andor que o santo é de barro, brings together different timeframes to explore a recurring theme in his research: how images, beliefs, and stories are continually inherited, transmitted, and reinvented over time.
