Emmanuel Nassar, Instabile, 1993, acrylic on canvas, ft [ph] Vicente de Mello
Emmanuel Nassar is one of the participants in Paisagens em suspensão, the new inaugural collective exhibition at Caixa Cultural Belém, which opens on October 9.
Curated by Daniela Matera Lins and Daniel Barretto, the exhibition brings together works by modern and contemporary artists exploring the Brazilian landscape in times of climate crisis, interconnecting natural, political, and symbolic factors.
Nassar participates with the work Instabile, 1993, in which he employs elements that are constant in his visual repertoire. Among them are the words EN, presented as compass coordinates, which also refer to his initials. As well as his interest in improvisation, present in the line that organizes the almost illusory landscape, even though it appears unstable. The painting suggests an ecological commentary by placing two axes that simulate tree trunks in this completely deforested view.
Paisagens em suspensão runs until January 18, 2026.
