Sharjah Biennial 17: What remains, sits restive
Sharjah, United Arab Emirates

We are honored to share that Grada Kilomba and Rebeca Carapiá will be featured in the Sharjah Biennial 17. Titled ‘What Remains, Sits Restive‘ opens January 2027.

Angela Harutyunyan and Paula Nascimento, curators of this edition, present two correlate proposals that approach the vestiges of unrealized projects from the past as pulsating forces in the present. Nascimento includes works by Kilomba and Carapiá in her selection, offering a gaze toward infrastructures as a way to connect space, place, and memory.

Established as one of the main events in the contemporary art calendar, the Sharjah Biennial occupies different spaces across the Emirate, including Al Dhaid, Khorfakkan, and the Kalba Ice Factory.
