Huis Clos, an exhibition featuring works by Miguel Rio Branco in dialogue with Iberê Camargo, opens at Instituto Figueiredo Ferraz in Ribeirão Preto on August 2.
The exhibition, which was on view at Casa Zalszupin until May this year, was curated by Antonio Gonçalves Filho and investigates tragedy as an inherent part of the human condition. Including rare paintings by Miguel Rio Branco, Huis Clos establishes a rapprochement between Rio Branco and Camargo based on the existentialist tenor of the works, but also by the visceral dynamic between light and shadow.
This itinerancy also features the artist Oswaldo Goeldi, renowned for his engravings depicting social types on the margins of society, reverberating themes of marginalization present in Rio Branco’s images.
