Hand in Hand traces a dialogue between Lidia and Thiago Barbalho, centered on the centrality of artisanal processes in both artists’ practices. The exhibition, curated by Maria do Carmo M. P. de Pontes, highlights the work of the hands as a counterpoint in the face of the ever‑increasing automation and digitalization of life.
Known for a practice rooted in the weaving of biographies, Lidia Lisbôa presents works developed over two months of residency at the gallery’s studio in Deptford, unfolding techniques that are central to her practice — crochet, ceramics, and performance. Her recent output extends the poles of landscape, the body, and memory, using materials on which the artist’s gesture and hand are imprinted.
