Curated by Larry Ossei-Mensah, The Fabric of Being brings together globally recognized artists whose practices are rooted in personal, cultural, and ancestral legacies, reimagining abstraction as a tool of invocation. These are works that intertwine memories and fleeting visual gestures, challenging the notion of a fixed identity.
Occupying the Almeida & Dale Fradique Coutinho 1360 unit, the show features works by Antonio Társis, Brooklin Soumahoro, Esther Mahlangu, Lidia Lisbôa, Moffat Takadiwa, Rubem Valentim, Sarah Zapata, Sidney Amaral, and Sonia Gomes—artists based in Brazil, South Africa, Zimbabwe, England, and the United States.
On view until October 11.
