Mariana Palma’s work is now part of the collection of the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami.

Now in the ICA, the installation was shown in two of the artist’s recent solo exhibitions: The Painting as a Verb, held in São Paulo in 2023, and The Vanity of the Caged Bird, in Milan, Italy, the following year.

Made up of voile fabrics suspended from up high, the work swings between life’s puissance and the memento mori, by presenting images of fruit, vegetables and other types of food, both fresh and in various stages of decay. These elements are arranged in pictorial compositions with flowers, shells, dust and other objects that allude to the passage of time.
