Miguel Rio Branco and Nuno Ramos are featured in the exhibition Fotos que nunca serão postadas (Photos That Will Never Be Posted), on view at the Instituto ViaFoto in São Paulo.

Focused on investigating the limits of image circulation in a daily life dominated by screens and algorithms, the show invites visitors to leave their cell phones behind before entering the exhibiton spaces. Concealed behind curtains, each work is revealed one at a time. As curator Marcello Campos says to Alice Ferraz’s column in Estadão, the proposal is to reclaim, in photography, “time, presence, and autonomy,” and to “re-establish the act of seeing as a conscious choice.”

Miguel Rio Branco presents O Começo e o Fim, a 1978 work previously censored in Brazil and China. Mácula (2019) by Nuno Ramos is also featured in the exhibition — the work stems from his homonymous project for the 22nd Bienal de São Paulo in 1994.
