When I die I will take nothing, those who owe me I will charge in hell, 1980/1985, by Miguel Rio Branco, is now part of the collection of the MoMA in New York.

The 16mm film is made up of photographs and audiovisual excerpts made by Rio Branco in Maciel, a region of Pelourinho in Salvador, the capital of the state of Bahia, in Northeast Brazil. The images show the place’s landscape and scenes with its residents and visitors, among which appears the text that names the work written in red on a wall.

In addition to this piece, gifted through the Latin American and Caribbean Fund, the museum holds over 30 works by Rio Branco, including Blue Tango, 1984, and photographs from the New York Sketches series, made in the 1970s.
