Almeida & Dale is pleased to announce the international co-representation of the estate of Miriam Inez da Silva (1937, Trindade–1996, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), in collaboration with Travesía Cuatro.

The artist’s paintings and woodcuts bring together references to art history, icons of pop culture and literature, as well as scenes that merge the fantastic with everyday life in the countryside—a visual repertoire built from her childhood memories. Her works acquire a narrative character through the geometric construction of space and the inclusion of frames and curved curtain-like shapes at the corners of the canvas, suggesting a stage.

Miriam trained at the School of Fine Arts of the Federal University of Goiás in the 1950s and studied under Ivan Serpa in the following decade, while maintaining a deep appreciation for artisanal techniques, including those used in the creation of ex-votos.

Among the most recent exhibitions dedicated to Miriam Inez da Silva’s work are those held at Travesía Cuatro, Madrid, Spain (2025); Cerrado Galeria, Goiânia (2024); Museu Nacional da República, Brasília (2021); and Almeida & Dale, São Paulo (2021). Her work has also appeared in group exhibitions at the Pinacoteca de São Paulo (2025); Museo Madre, Naples, Italy (2024); Instituto Çarê, São Paulo (2022); MASP, São Paulo (2022, 2017, 2016); Fundación Juan March, Madrid, Spain (2018); as well as the Santiago Print Biennial, Chile (1969), and the São Paulo Biennial (1967, 1963).
