Thiago Martins de Melo, A Motosserra que (des)mata e o bastardo da brancura que nasce, 2013
Amilcar de Castro, Heitor dos Prazeres, José Leonilson, Thiago Martins de Melo, and Tunga exhibit their works in the group exhibition Uma História da Arte Brasileira on view at CCBB BH.
The exhibition brings together more than 50 works from the MAM Rio collection, offering a broad overview of Brazilian artistic production in the 20th and 21st centuries. Curated by Raquel Barreto and Pablo Lafuente, it brings together established names in modernism with prominent figures from the current scene, presenting a journey of continuities, ruptures, and experimentation throughout this great chronology.
The five themes that structure the exhibition cover narratives about Brazilian art, beginning with modernism in the early decades of the 20th century and subsequent conceptual paradigms, up to the 2000s, a period in which the curators emphasize the relevance and visibility of female, black, indigenous, and LGBTQIA+ artists.
On view until December 1.
