Gustavo Caboco joins the exhibition Insurgências Indígenas: Arte, Memória e Resistência at Sesc Quitandinha in Petrópolis, from Saturday, August 23.
Curated by Sandra Benites and Marcelo Campos, the show continues to incorporate new works over the course of its run, within the context of gatherings held around a symbolic bonfire. Titled TATA YPY, which means “origin of fire” in Guarani, these meetings evoke Indigenous bonfires and foster encounters between artists and leaders from different ethnicities who, together, present new imaginaries of Indigenous peoples and their role in contemporary art.
