For this year’s Frieze Sculpture, almeida & Dale brings a monumental work by renowned sculptor Henrique Oliveira to Regent’s Park (London, UK).
Desnatureza 8 features two structures resembling tree trunks that intertwine as they emerge from the ground. The intertwined bodies may allude to a process of mutant germination, but they also revisit scenes from fairy tales that orbit our imagination. The work is part of a larger series, in which Oliveira appropriates urban waste wood destined for disposal to provoke reflections on the circular time that governs the natural world.
Curated by Fatoş Üstek, the 13th edition of the show will have the theme In the Shadows, exploring the concept of darkness from various perspectives, such as inner darkness, the realm of the invisible, and the relationship between light and darkness.
Frieze Sculpture 2025 will be open from September 17 to November 2, 2025.
