Vivian Caccuri opens Pele Azul, a new solo exhibition at Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in São Paulo.
Curated by Bernardo José de Souza, the show follows the artist’s ongoing research into mosquitoes, bringing to the surface the mythologies surrounding these creatures — especially their encounter with humanity and their relationship to the environment.
The Sabethes albiprivus mosquito, popularly known as the “blue mosquito,” is the subject of the video installation that gives the exhibition its title — a rare and magnetic glimpse of a species nearly invisible to the human eye. Developed in partnership with the Laboratory of Hematozoa Transmitters at Fiocruz, the work is produced by Almeida & Dale and Cisma Produções. Audio recordings of the mosquito’s sounds give rise to the large-scale installation Gatonet (2026), as well as new works in the Lexapro series (2022–2026).
