On October 25, Elena Damiani opens The Shapes Within at Almeida & Dale, her first solo exhibition in Brazil.

The exhibition explores the passage of time and transformations in the landscape through the synergistic encounter between materials of different natures, such as travertine and duralumin.

Damiani understands geology not as a mere science of measurement, but as a “language of forms,” in the artist’s words. Every boulder, sediment, or mineral carries itsown logic of organization, signaling how nature is structured.

“Structural geology studies how the Earth takes shape: how rocks fold, fracture, and layer over time. At its core, it is a way of looking closely at matter to reveal the geometries hidden within it. But it also shows us that stone is not inert, but active”, the artist adds in her writings.

The selection of works includes recent productions, as well as notable works exhibited in Stockholm, New York, Mexico City, Lima, Buenos Aires, and Japan, among them works from the series currently on view at the Aichi Triennale 2025, with art direction by Hoor Al-Qasimi.
