Rebeca Carapiá and Michael Rakowitz are among the artists shortlisted to create an installation at the High Line’s Plinth in New York.

Lightning Rods for Confused Energies 3.0 proposed by Carapiá, creates an aerial calligraphy rendered in iron and bronze. The work is part of a series the artist has been developing since 2020, combining technology with the creation of a speculative writing system.

Guide for the Perplexed, a project by Michael Rakowitz, reproduces the dome of the historic Tomb of Ezekiel, a sacred site for both Jews and Muslims. Constructed with materials of religious significance to both communities, the monumental work invites the public to contemplate its architecture, offering a meditative space for remembrance and intercultural peace.

The projects nominated by the program’s international selection committee are currently open to public consultation, which will guide the High Line Art curatorial team in selecting the finalists who will occupy the Plinth in 2029 and 2030.
