It is with delight that Almeida & Dale announces the representation of Sara Ramo (Madrid, 1975).
With a 25-year career marked by extensive international presence, the artist develops a body of work focused on the creation of a symbolic field mediated by context and intuitive knowledge. Polymorphics, her works address the coexistence of elements in supposed opposition, incorporating contradiction and diversity as part of vital experience.
Displacement, disjunction, and strangeness hover over the images she creates through the accumulation and collage of elements that permeate material life, often through its debris and traces. By probing the corners and basements of the spaces she inhabits, Sara Ramo’s work expresses the invisible structures that sustain the world, its possible groupings, and the ways in which creative activity can manifest itself.
Sara Ramo has presented solo exhibitions at several institutions, including: Centro Internacional das Artes José de Guimarães, Guimarães, Portugal (2022); Palácio das Artes, Belo Horizonte (2021); Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Madrid, Spain (2020); Museo de Arte de Zapopan, Mexico (2020); and Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, Spain (2019).
Her works are featured in collections including Patrícia Phelps de Cisneros Collection, USA; Gilberto Chateaubriand Collection, Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro – MAM Rio, Brazil; Fonds régional d’art contemporain – FRAC, France; Instituto Inhotim, Brazil; Pérez Art Museum – PAMM, USA; and Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, Brazil.
