On October 18, Túlio Pinto opens his solo exhibition Simples e composto at Cerrado Cultural in Brasília.

The artist presents a set of recent sculptures and installations in his first solo show in the city where he was born. In his works, he articulates strength and delicacy by forging extreme situations, where fragile materials—many of them resembling organs—are embedded in points of beams and steel plates.

The exhibition is curated by Divino Sobral and seeks to investigate the idea of “composite” in the work of Túlio Pinto, which is expressed in the interactions between organic and geometric forms, resistant and delicate materials, as well as the relationship between robust sculptures and the empty spaces that house them. It also explores the legacy of sculpture in the 20th century, especially the currents of concretism, minimalism, and arte povera.
