Carvalho’s anthropophagic character is investigated on the basis of Oswald de Andrade’s statement quoted in the biography Flávio de Carvalho: The Eater of Emotions Written by José Mário Arruda Toledo, which considers Carvalho’s involvement in avant-garde movements and his attachment to experimental practice in the mid-1960s.
