Flávio de Carvalho: O antropófago ideal

Almeida & Dale
São Paulo, Brazil
Portuguese

With texts by Kiki Mazzucchelli, Rui Moreira Leite, and Silveira Peixoto, the publication for the exhibition Flávio de Carvalho: The ideal anthropophagist expands on the multidisciplinary artist’s career and legacy for the contemporary art scene, understanding his relevance for reflecting on fashion, architecture, and critical thinking. Carvalho’s anthropophagic character is investigated on the basis of Oswald de Andrade’s statement quoted in the biography Flávio de Carvalho: The Eater of Emotions Written by José Mário Arruda Toledo, which considers Carvalho’s involvement in avant-garde movements and his attachment to experimental practice in the mid-1960s.
