Almeida & Dale announces the representation of Ivan Campos
09/25/2024
Almeida & Dale is pleased to announce the representation of artist Ivan Campos (1960, Rio Branco, AC, Brazil).
Campos constructs visions of natural environments densely populated with animals, plant species and graphic elements. His painting presents a fantastic vision of the closed forest, characterized by high interspecies interaction, in which the notion of the forest ecosystem overflows into the painting. In this way, form and color mold each other. According to Campos: “I would say that I combine color and form, often with color hiding form and the form hiding color”.
The subject of his work is drawn from the environment around him: the Amazon rainforest, with its rivers and igarapés, the mystical aspects of his experiences with ayahuasca, and interior scenes, which results in an integrated vision of the many layers of nature. In his paintings, Campos does not aim for a naturalistic representation of the forest, but rather reiterates the inseparable link between perception, memory and imagination.
Ivan Campos held his first solo exhibition in 2000 at Galeria de Artes do Sesc-Acre. In 2024, he was selected for the 38th Panorama of Brazilian Art at the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo (MAM-SP), as well as for the "Fullgas" group exhibition curated by Raphael Fonseca at Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro (CCBB/RJ).
