Almeida & Dale Launches Catalog and Short Documentary of the Exhibition "Examining Myself and Others: Victor Arruda and Carroll Dunham"

On August 31, Saturday, from 11 AM to 4 PM, Almeida & Dale will launch the catalog of the exhibition "Examining Myself and Others: Victor Arruda and Carroll Dunham," currently on view at the gallery. The launch of the short doc will take place at the same time on the gallery's YouTube channel.   

The book features paintings and drawings by Victor Arruda and Carroll Dunham, along with an exclusive interview between curator Dan Nadel and the artists, discussing the central themes of their work and the inspirations that have shaped their careers. The short doc features a talk by curator Dan Nadel, as well as exhibition views and details of the artworks. 

The exhibition proposes a dialogue exploring masculinity, conflict, sex, and consciousness. Arruda, known for his provocative works addressing themes such as sexuality, politics, and social critique, is presented alongside Dunham, whose paintings and drawings blend abstract and figurative elements with humor and irony. 

Both Almeida & Dale's short documentaries and publications are aimed at disseminating and deepening the understanding of modern and contemporary art. Each exhibition is accompanied by an audiovisual content as well as a publication featuring texts, essays, and reproductions of the works, contributing to a broader comprehension of art, culture, and history. The publications are available for purchase at the online and physical stores of MASP and the Pinacoteca de São Paulo. The short documentaries can be watched on the Almeida & Dale YouTube channel.
