Amilcar de Castro displayed at Domaine National du Palais-Royal during the Art Basel Paris 2024
10/15/2024
The upcoming edition of Art Basel Paris, from October 18 to 20, will include a public program carried out in collaboration with the city's leading cultural institutions. Several historic locations across Paris will host exhibitions, installations, and conferences, including the Domaine National du Palais-Royal, where works by Brazilian sculptor Amilcar de Castro will be displayed, together with Galeria Marília Razuk.
The minimalist and monumental forms of Amilcar de Castro—born in 1920 in Paraisópolis and deceased in 2002 in Belo Horizonte—are fundamental to Brazilian modernism. The artist is renowned for the cut and fold technique, which involves transforming metal sheets without removing or adding material.
