Documentary premiere about the life and work of Eleonore Koch
04/11/2024
The feature film "As cores e amores de Lore," an unprecedented documentary directed by Jorge Bodanzky that tributes the life and work of Eleonore Koch (1926-2018), premieres on April 12th in São Paulo and April 13th in Rio de Janeiro. The film is an integral part of and complements the largest retrospective of the artist's career: "Eleonore Koch: em cena," on display at the Museu de Arte Contemporânea da USP (MAC USP, São Paulo) until July 14, 2024, featuring 190 works from both public and private collections, offering a unique perspective on the artist's production.
The filmmaker documented the last 5 years of Koch's life, who worked with his mother, Rosa Bodanzky, at the Cosmos bookstore in São Paulo in the 1950s. Interested in hearing about his mother, the director ended up recording over 15 hours of conversations with the artist, during which she talked about her painting and her various love affairs, addressing profound themes such as sexuality, feminism and loneliness.
