Heitor dos Prazeres at Art Basel 2024 and the International Recognition of a Brazilian Artist

Art Basel 2024 opens today to the wide public, and, for this edition, Almeida & Dale presents a selection of works by Heitor dos Prazeres (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1898-1966), Brazilian artist who counts with international recognition. Besides the solo exhibitions at venues such as the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, Prazeres has shown his work in countries such as Argentina, Senegal, England, France and Germany.
In the collection of the Museum of Modern Art – MoMA, in New York, since the 1940s and one of the main contributors to the First World Festival of Black Arts, in Dakar, in 1966, Prazeres gained recognition through a rich, varied and sophisticated artistic production.
As well as being part of MoMA's collection, his work is part of public collections that include the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Museo Reina Sofia, Madri; El Museo del Barrio, New York; Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro – MAM Rio; Museu Afro Brasil Emanuel Araujo, São Paulo; Museu de Arte do Rio – MAR, Rio de Janeiro; Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand – MASP; Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo – MAM SP; Pinacoteca de São Paulo and Fundação Roberto Marinho, Rio de Janeiro, among others.
