The exhibition "Fullgás – Visual Arts and the 1980s in Brazil," on view at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil Rio de Janeiro (CCBB/RJ), explores the impact of Brazilian visual arts during the 1980s, featuring over 300 works by 200 artists from various regions of the country.
Curated by Raphael Fonseca, Amanda Tavares, and Tálisson Melo, the exhibition includes works by three artists who expand the perspective on the diverse movements that shaped the artistic landscape beyond the Rio-São Paulo axis: Ivan Campos, Leonilson, and Helio Melo.
The exhibition is organized into five conceptual sections, each inspired by iconic songs from the 1980s, such as "Que País É Este" and "O Tempo Não Pára." In addition to the artworks, visitors can explore elements of the visual culture of that period, including magazines, album covers, and objects.
