Documentary about Eleonore Koch features new screenings this May
05/10/2024
The feature film “As cores e amores de Lore [The Colors and Loves of Lore]," a documentary directed by Jorge Bodanzky that premiered at the É Tudo Verdade Festival in April 2024, will have new screenings this month: one on May 25th at 11AM at MAC USP, and another on May 29th at 7PM at the Biblioteca Mário de Andrade. For both occasions, a debate with director Jorge Bodanzky and screenwriter Bruna Callegari is scheduled.
The film, which covers life and work of Eleonore Koch (1926-2018), is intertwined with and complements the largest retrospective of the artist's career: "Eleonore Koch: Em cena," on display at the Museu de Arte Contemporânea - USP (São Paulo) until July 14th, 2024. The exhibition brings together 190 works from public and private collections, providing a unique insight into the artist's production.
The filmmaker documented the last five years of artist's life, during which she worked with his mother, Rosa Bodanzky, at a book shop named Cosmos, in São Paulo, in the 1950s. He recorded over 15 hours of conversations with Koch, in which she discussed her painting, love affairs, and delved into profound themes such as sexuality, feminism and solitude.
