Luiz Sacilotto's Centenary is celebrated with exhibition in Santo Andre
04/22/2024
Today marks the centenary of Luiz Sacilotto (1924-2003), one of the pioneers of concrete art in Brazil. Recognized for works that explored form, color, mathematics, and geometry from various perspectives, Sacilotto had great relevance in the Brazilian art scene from the 1950s onwards. His work brings developments in abstract art on a global scale and points to the contemporaneity that guided his research.
For the occasion of his centenary, a series of events in his honor have been planned. Today, April 22nd 2024, the exhibition "Sacilotto em Movimento [Sacilotto in Motion]" opens at Casa do Olhar, in Santo André/SP. The exhibition presents highlights of the artist's biography alongside works, projects, studies, and significant documents from his different phases of research and production.
